Pumpkin Jigsaw – Carnival Band

Carnival is a space for energy and transformation, as a community it is a place to but stories and joy by taking a theme and using movement and dance to share stories in celebration. These workshops will look at techniques used in Brazilian Carnival, like rhythmic structures and performance practices to help the participants to understand the communal and performance capabilities of carnival and how the heritage of Brazilian cities particularly Rio de Janeiro and Salvador, Bahia have influenced different performance methods.

Alongside this we will also be adding our own Pumpkin Jigsaw flare, adding a variety of performance practices and new ideas into our carnival style, and creating performances that are truly relevant to our city, London.
